A criminal case is like no other legal matter or “lawsuit”. More than any other type of case, it has the potential for turning your life upside down, You stand to lose (among other things), your freedom, your property, and/or your driver’s license, not to mention your dignity and your reputation. It is my duty and pleasure to use all of the talents that I have been blessed with to help you avoid and/or reverse these consequences.
As a criminal defense attorney, my job – quite frankly – is as follows: if you are in jail, to get you get out of jail; if you are out of jail, to keep you out of jail; and above all, my ultimate goal is to resolve your case in such a manner that you can live the rest of your life freely- or with as few restrictions on your freedom as possible. The degree to which all or any of this can be accomplished, will, of course, depend on the particular facts of each case. My effort and determination to achieve this goal are the same regardless of the circumstances.
I believe very strongly that every person charged with a crime deserves to be vigorously defended, regardless of whether you are guilty. Whether you are guilty as charged or innocent (or something in between) is, of course, important, but by law, whether the Prosecution can prove their case against you is as equally important. What seem like a hopeless case to you may in fact be a strong case.
If the police unlawfully seized evidence from your person, your car, your home, or your cell phone, then it may be possible to exclude that evidence. Or if the prosecution intends to use your “confession” against you, but that confession was obtained by police without them reading you your rights, then it may be possible to exclude that confession as well. These are just two examples of how apparent strengths in a prosecutor’s case can be weakened.
But beyond even the legal issues, everyone knows that even good people sometimes find themselves doing bad things or in bad situations, and recognition of this fact is important for both effective advocacy and for achieving justice on your behalf. As an attorney and a man I believe in second chances, and if necessary, it is my job to convince the prosecution of that as well.
Since I am a solo practitioner, when you hire me, I will be the only attorney handling your case. I will not hand you over to an associate or a paralegal. Office or jail meetings will be with me personally and I am the person who will be appearing in court for you. I also do speak some Spanish, but I have office staff who speak it fluently.
So if you are truly looking for an attorney with the experience, work ethic, dedication, and compassion to effectively represent you, feel free to give me a call. Let me help get you through this experience. Let me stand for you in the courtroom, in the jail, in the trenches, and throughout the process. I am ready. Are you?
